My question involves an arrest warrant from the State of: OREGON
Almost three weeks ago I was issued a citation for the "offense" of alcohol by consumption. I was slapped with a base fine of $242. I live in the city of Portland (Multnomah County) but got the citation in Lake Oswego (Clackamas County) These may come off as "stupid questions" to some but give me a break, I am just a teenager. I am not a lawyer, and I am not interested in being one either. I am unemployed and have no immediate means of paying this fine except for my parents.I have a little more than one week before my scheduled appearance and I really would not like to add to my parent's seemingly, ever increasing debt.
I am considering not informing them of my citation and in-turn not paying the fine or showing up for the court date. I assume that I will recieve a bench/alias warrant and was wondering:
Would a warrant in the Lake Oswego Police Dept. database show up in the Portland Police database as well? (seeing as though they are in different counties)
How long will this warrant stand?
Is it easy to exist with a warrant out for your arrest?
What are the general proceedings when arrested for a bench or alias warrant?
I may plead no contest through a written appearance in an attempt to reduce the fine. Is there anything in particular that judges look for when lowering the sanctioned amount of money? (I would like to reduce the fine as much as possible)
Suggestions???
Thanks
