I recently received a court summons to appear in civil court in the City of New York, Kings County (Brooklyn). Its from a Gap credit card that was taken out under my name by my ex-girlfriend in 2004 about 5 years ago. At the time I knew she stopped paying, but regardless it's my responsibility. We were both in college at the time and maintaining a steady income was difficult. The Summons clearly shows the the debt was sold to some collection agency or some law firm for about $800. That's how much I owe and clearly that's how much they want. My question is if the Judge puts a judgment against me to pay the money and I don't (I really can't) aside from it going on my credit report, is it possible for my wages to be garnished AFTER the judgment?
