Question Letter From a Debt Collector Over Towing Fee For a Car That Sold a Long Time Ago

My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of: I'm in Portland OR.
I sold the car last year and report to DMV but this week I got the letter from Restore financial services network ( a debt collector ) about retriever towing charge. How I can do about this because it should charge the new owner of that car why it come to charge me. What is the document I can prove to the company and Towing department,

    Thanks for your answer

The towing charge relates to a tow that occurred after the sale and your formal notification of the sale to the state? Have you confirmed with the DMV that they received your notice of the sale? Have you provided a copy of the notice to the towing company?

yes, the DMV received my notice of sale but the problem , I'd never get any letter from original towing company but the frist letter that I got from Bebt collector company and already charge the interest in the bill. And they called me twice for the money.

Actually, that is not the problem. Even if you got a letter from the towing company and unless you did show them a copy of a dated bill of sale, the debt would have still gone to collection in your name.

Get some sort of confirmation from the collection company as to the date of the charges they are trying to collect and respond with a copy of the bill of sale showing that the vehicle was sold before the date of the tow.

That process will indirectly provide the collection company with the name and address of the party who they really should be going after for the debt.

After I try to prove my case with the collector company and wait for information from DMV about my notice of sale ,, Now, I get the Notice of claim from small claim court. The collector company claim me. How can I do with this? DMV still didn't contact back me.
