My question involves a background check in the State of: Virginia
I am applying for jobs within the federal government as a civilian. I see that most, if not all, of these jobs require background investigations. The jobs do not require a clearance, just a background investigation. Last year I had my TS/SCI revoked due to false statements found during my periodic reinvestigation. I filed an appeal and left my place of employment afterwards. I just found out that the appeal was suspended (put on hold basically) due to the fact that my past employer "outprocessed" my clearance with the Air Force. The Air Force Adjudication Facility personnel informed me when my employer "outprocessed" my clearance, my appeal was stopped. It will not go any further until a time comes when I need it. Basically, my revocation is up in the air until an employer requests my clearance again.
From what my clearance lawyer told me last year, only my "access", SCI, was revoked. That is what was being appealed, not my actual clearance. However, depending on the outcome from the AF Adjudication Facility, my clearance would then be decided on by Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office. Usually, if access is revoked, the clearance is also revoked.
Finally, my question. If I am hired by a federal agency, hopefully Interior or EPA, and a background investigation is performed, will my clearance revocation be an issue? Will the investigation even dig that deep?
Thanks for any insight or information.
