Default Information About Diversion Programs in California

I am wondering if my lawyer is really working my case. He claims I am lucky because they just came out with a Diversion Program and he found out about it last week. However, I have been aware of this program for many months by reviewing this site. How can he tell me this is a new program? Did I get a lawyer that is inexperiance in a petty theift shoplifting case? He also doesn't let me talk much about the 'situation' or explain myself. I guess he just goes off the police report.

Note that I am NOT a lawyer.

First: What state do you reside in?

Maybe your state did not have a diversion program until recently?

My lawyer forwarded the police report and evidence documents to me once he got it. I then emailed him to explain a few things. And he listened. He also asked questions, and answered questions that I had.

The thread title, "Information About Diversion Program in California" hints that just maybe this person's in California.

As the availability and terms of diversion programs can vary at the county level, it's possible that this is a new (or recently modified) program in the county where charges were filed.
