    Default Party at My House

For a career project at school, I'm doing a project on being a lawyer. I want to get the class involved, so I'm setting up a scenario on what to do when they're in certain legal situations.

I was thinking say if you're hosting a party with alcohol at your house and you're under the age of 21. The cops show up and everyone scrambles and gets out of there. You stay since it is your house, but you have not been drinking. Are you liable for anything?

Thanks for the response! Any info on how to play your cards here so I can explain that to them? As in what basis for argument they could use and possible consequences?

These laws can be state specific. What state are you in?

21 or not, makes no difference. If you live in Ohio, you are cooked:

    (B) No person who is the owner or occupant of any public or private place shall knowingly allow any underage person to remain in or on the place while possessing or consuming beer or intoxicating liquor, unless the intoxicating liquor or beer is given to the person possessing or consuming it by that person’s parent, spouse who is not an underage person, or legal guardian and the parent, spouse who is not an underage person, or legal guardian is present at the time of the person’s possession or consumption of the beer or intoxicating liquor.

If there is no "specific" law that addresses it in your state, then figure such as contributing to the delinquency of a minor, etc.
