-i am 16 years old with a 5 month old baby. i really need help in my situation.. the father of my child was 19 when i got pregnant and i was 15. when the baby was born i didnt put his name on her birth certificate nor does she have his last name, i was scared they would take him away cause everyone was tellin me about the age difference.. he does everything for his child, he goes to school and works. i live with him- my mom allowed it. he claimed the baby on his tax refund cause we were living within his household. can i apply for any government assistance? even if i dont live with my mom and im underage. & how can i get insurance for the baby- will he have to do it cause thats his dependent? i am struggling day by day- and i really need an aswer before i make a move and get caught up. also how can emancipation work since he's basically taking care of the both of us? to remind u-- my mom allowed it.

Emancipation doesn't work here. You are not supporting yourself - you will not be emancipated. Period, full stop, no matter how many but-what-ifs you come up with.

Also, any public assistance you get, you will have to:

1 inform the government of who the father is

2 assist them in finding the father

3 The father will have to reimburse the government for any public assistance you get

4 the state may prosecute the father for having sex with a 15 year old

5 they may also prosecute your mother for allowing him to have sex with a minor

6 you AND your child may well wind up in foster care
