    Default Friends with Benefits

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas. My live in boyfriend for the last year just burnt off and took numerous items. What if anything will the police do for me? I've been told that since we lived together for so long that were considered common law married and that its pointless to pursue the matter.

first, common law marriage does not happen by accident, generally. In Texas, there are 3 rules; you both agree to be married, you hold yourselves out as married, and you had to have lived together in Texas as husband and wife. If any of the 3 are not true, you are not married via common law.

So, yes, you are pretty much correct on the police not helping you thing. How are they supposed to determine who owned what? They can't and they won't. Sue the guy in civil court if you want the stuff back.
