    Default Civil or Criminal

My girl friend left me while at work. She took some of my jewelery and coin collection. The police say that since we had lived together almost a year that its a civil case. Is this true?

    Default Re: Civil or Criminal

there could be criminal aspects of the case but generally, due to the living situation, the courts will not even attempt to press the criminal portion. They are not going to try to dissolve your relationship in order to convict her. Remember, they must convince a jury, beyond a reasonable doubt, she committed the crime. It just doesn't happen.
