My question involves criminal law for the state of: Iowa
I was recently called to my probation officer's office. My PO demanded that I be honest -- "I know you've been drinking," she says. She told me she came to this conclusion based on what a few others on her caseload have been telling her. She kept insisting that she was convinced that I violated my probation -- having been clean and sober for nearly a year, finishing up my treatment and drug court, and having never violated my probation in the year that I've been on it. All my options, from being locked up to restarting my outpatient, stem from me admitting guilt. The only problem is, I've not been drinking, and I refuse to extend my probation. I don't think my probation officer is playing fair; she told me she I've not failed a drug test for alcohol and that she's basically going off of rumor. I'm getting the impression she's just trying to antagonize me and get me into saying what she wants to hear by playing good cop/bad cop with herself ("well if you come clean, I can make you this deal."; "If you wanna play that game and not be honest then I'm just going to lock you up.") She wants me to meet with my attorney and her next week.
Any advice? What can my probation officer do exactly?
