    Default How to Get a Public Defender

    Can I get a public defender if my spouse has a good income? Is it income dependent? I am trying to hide this from him and... I don't know...

    When they read you your 'rights' is says "If you can not afford an attorney one will be appointed for you". If your husband makes good money, you'll need to get a lawyer on your own. Most importantly you need to talk to him about what happened, if you don't it will come back to haunt you down the road.

    You can't get a public defender if your husband makes good money. It' goes acording to combined income. Sorry.
