    Default Time before charges

That's going to depend upon a number of things, including the extent of police investigation that remains to be done, and how busy the prosecutor's office is. It usually doesn't take very long. Sometimes, the period of time between an arrest and the formal filing of charges can be the best time to have a criminal defense lawyer try to work out a plea bargain, if you are interested in that possibility.

    Default

I was given an arraignment date in the form of a citation when the officer released me from his custody. I showed up at the arraignment (about a month, maybe 2 later) but they hadn't worked through all the paperwork, so charges were not brought that day.
