My question involves criminal law for the state of: Tennessee
I was put on 11-29 supervised probation on post trial diversion for petty theft of $42 at Walmart. Then while on probation, I was cited for a $3 theft at Kroger, which I am trying to drop, because it was an honest mistake, the item was not scanned. I understand it is my fault and I did have a violation warrant issued and had a bond for 20,000 dollars which after staying in Jail ( I voluntarily turned myself in) for a week, it got reduced to 1,000. I have been on probation for almost 5 months and have not failed a drug test, stayed up to date with my court costs and probation fees, and notified my P.O. of everything....I want to move on to the military to shape up my responsibilities, but due to supervised probation and this pending second theft charge, I have to wait until my record clears up. I would like to know what are the possible consequences from min. to max. of what I can be punished...would letters of reference from my prior professors ( I have a college degree and worked in retail for 6 current years) and employers of good character be a helpful tool to the case for lineal punishment, as well as volunteering myself into counseling?? If any responses, thank you for your time.
