Default Do I Have a Case Against This Collection's Charge

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: AL

I just received a bill from a collections agency for the amount of $13.68 for a bowflex account. My husband and I thought that we paid the account off in January and have not received any bills since then. I called the collections agency as soon as I got the letter and explained the situation and the lady took the balance off; but I do not want this to hurt our credit so do I have a case to dispute these charges? If so, what evidence do I need? Its kind of hard to prove that I didn't receive any bills.

You need to send a written dispute to the collection agency within 30 days of their initial contact with you, otherwise you lose certain rights.
