My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: California
I was denied Unemployment from a small privately owned retail store for ridiculous reasons (Employer needed a reason to cut hours so they went on a firing rampage) which is irrelevant to my question. I received the notice a couple days ago that my appeals hearing is being scheduled. The employer has since gone out of business completely and one of the owners moved away. I doubt that they will be showing up for the hearing because it doesn't concern them anymore.
My questions are;
1) Do the employer responsibilities follow if the company goes out of business or sells to another company? (paying unemployment benefits and such)
2) In the appeals hearing do I automatically win if the employer does not show up?
Thanks for the help.
