I'm an international student on an F1 visa. I'm trying to find out if I would be able to run a small home business for a US citizen if he gives me Power of Attorney. More specifically the US citizen is my husband. However, he is currently incarcerated and unable to run the business (we're married by proxy, so that's why I wasn't able to file for AOS yet). Am I legally allowed to do this without work permit? I would NOT be his employee, just his agent-in-fact due to the Power of Attorney. I would put in some of my own money to get started, and then open a business bank account in his name, and any earnings would go to his inmate trust fund account for him to use. I'm not expecting any large profit, a few hundred dollars a year maybe. The idea is mainly just for me to get the business up and running, so that once he gets out, he won't have to start from scratch. I just want to be sure that it is not somehow interpreted as "me" doing business and working without authorization.
