My question involves towing laws for the State of: Maryland

My car was towed from our apartment garage on 4/2. The reason was the expired tag. In fact I did register and did receive the sticker, which confirms our registeration. However, we did not put it on the tag immediately.
Then HAVING the sticker was pointless. It only counts if it's ON the tag.

The sticker on the tag expired for two days and the towing company towed it from our garage at night. Is it legal for them to do that?
Yep.

We did have registered.
But that registration wasn't properly displayed, as required by law. Tow companies and apartment complexes don't have the nifty DHSMV computer access like police do to check the database. That's why the law REQUIRES you to affix the sticker.

I think only when your car is illegally parked somewhere shall your car be towed.
The minute the old sticker expired, the car WAS illegally parked.

I will not complain if we get a ticket for forgetting putting the sticker on, as we forgot bringing our license with us on the road. But tow from our apartment garage and want us to pay in 150 CASH? That is too much!
You can talk to your city or county commissioners about current regulations on towing fees (most areas already have restrictions in place, but your local elected officials are the ones to approach to change this).

Can the tow company tow the car right after the tag expired for two days in Maryland from a private parking? That is my question.
Yes. And it's not YOUR private parking - the lot is owned by the complex. Check your lease for the restrictions and requirements to be able to park happily.
