My question involves business law in the state of: North Carolina

My wife and I hired an attorney to assist us in collecting payment from a client
for services rendered. The attorney sent the client a letter demanding payment, this letter was ignored.

The client was then served with papers by the Sheriff. The attorney delayed filing these papers with the court for approximately two weeks. In the meantime the client filed bankruptcy.

My question is if the attorney had filed the papers with the court in a timely manner the judgment would have been in place before the bankruptcy was filed.

Did the attorney act properly in this case?
