    Default Suspension Pending Termination

My ex was suspended pending an investigation from his job. This was 5 weeks ago. Basically one of his employee's was stealing and he didn't catch it quick enough (couple days) before he fired the kid. Then he turns around and is suspended pending internal investigation. He has made numerous attempts to contact and find out what is going on and his calls are never returned.

My questions are: (this is Washington State)

How long can they leave him in limbo on suspension? He can't file unemployment claims, nothing until they make a decision.
We have talked to the unemployment division and they will investigate between the employer and himself regarding what happened, but not until he is actually fired. Until then, he cannot open a claim.

What rights does he have? The district supervisors are telling all the other employee's he will be back (his brother works their also), and yet it's been 5 weeks!

    Thanks!

There is no maximum time limit you can be suspended pending an investigation.
