Default Sending money abroad while on F-1 visa (OPT)

    Hello:

I heard from someone when I was in school that it's illegal to send (wire) money to your home country while you are on student visa (F-1). Is that true?

I am on OPT now and I have got my H-1B visa but the H-1B visa becomes effective from May 9, '06 until then I am on OPT. I was assuming that it's illegal to send money while on F-1 and so, I was just gonna wait until my status changes to H-1B. Can anybody clarify this.

I don't know of any reason it would be illegal, although I can see the USCIS wanting to know where the money came from if they detect the transfer.
