My question involves a background check in the State of: Connecticut. Would it be possible, legally, for a police background investigation, (in particular one for a federal government job) to access my personnel file from a previous job? I've heard that the personnel files are the property of the company and can only be accessed through court order. Also, ive heard the company can only say that you worked there from x to y dates, as well as answer the questions of the BI. Is there any truth to this? Thanks.
