    Whats the differance between eligible for CUSTODY and elegible for JAIL?

    Perhaps you can explain the context in which those terms are being used.

    When the police take someone in to "custody" it generally means they are under arrest. However, custody might also mean they are being held for a mental health evaluation, or in the case of a minor, perhaps they are being held for safe placement with social services. Generally, "custody" means that you have been placed into law enforcement's care under some statutory authority.

    When you go to jail, that means that you go to the big, solid building with guards, big heavy doors, and bad people housed inside.

    i got charged with assault, and on my first court appearance they gave me a paper that says : crown considering custody. When my friend went to his first court appearance the paper says : crown considering JAIL what is the differance? im 17 hes 18

    Since you are obviously NOT from the United States, I cannot say for certain what the context of the paper might mean.
