    Unhappy Assault with a Deadly Weapon, First Offense

    My question involves criminal law for the state of: Alabama


    my step-dad accidently shot my husband in the arm with a shot gun. He has never been in trouble with the police before. The state is pressing charges on him assault with a deadly weapon I am trying to find out if he will have to serve time or maybe get probation.

    It's reasonable to assume that he'll do time and/or serve probation. The state doesn't appear to believe this was an accident.

    Your husband can probably get a sense of where this is going by talking to the prosecutor.
