Hello. It's been a while since I have updated my situation. Nearly 7 months has passed since my incident. I still have not received a civil demand letter. I'd like to think I lucked out and won't be receiving a civil demand, but in the back of my mind the civil demand is still coming. The law firm must be really really backed up.
I have tried applying for jobs over the summer and a couple were failures. At one place, I thought I was a shoe in as I was called back for a second interview right away. However on that application, I was truthful about my termination from my previous job. On another application, I omitted the details of my termination and put something like "cashiering errors." I think that application was thrown into the round file. The only place I was able to work in before school started was with a private contractor. I still don't know what I should put on applications because I want to be hireable, but at the same time I don't want to resort to lying. This is my insight for those trying to find a job after shoplifting.
I have checked my credit reports recently and the only thing that shows up is my credit card. Would a 'failure to pay' show in your credit report or is it shown in your FICO scores? There's still that possibility that the civil demand was sent out and I just didn't receive it. Thank you again for your time.
