Default child taken out of state, what do I do?

My daughter was taken out of state, from Virginia to Seattle. Her family live in Seattle and she told me she was going out there to visit, and she comes back without our 8 month old daughter. Its been 1 month and I have no idea what to do. She has a son here in Virginia and he lives with his father. Please tell me a course of action, I know that I need to hire a lawyer, but I'm trying to get an idea of how this will play out. We do not have custody agreement in place.

Where is the child now? Are you the legal father?

If I'm piecing this together right...

You have a daughter with aomeone. She takes the child without your consent to another state, and leaves her there with relatives, then returns to your state. Now she refuses to provide you with information on the whereabouts of your child. A couple of quick questions.

Are you on the childs birth certificate?
Is there ANY court action on this case at any time? (Child support, paternity test, etc)

I am the father, but not in the eyes of court because I'm not on the birth certificate and we have bever been to court. I know that I am the father because I got a blood test and it showed I was the father. The child is in Seattle, the mom is in Maryland. I'm in Virginia.

yes, I do know the child is with her parents, but I have no idea where they live. No, I am not on the birth certificate or have any legal documentation saying she is mine.

If (since) you have not established paternity, there isn't much you can do about it until you do establish paternity.

Why and for who was the blood test performed? Was this just a basic blood test or was a DNA test performed. To prove pat. you will have to go to court and have a DNA test performed. Then you can seek rights, including visitation and the right to pay child support in court.
