My question involves divorce in the State of: TN

My wife and I were married 2 yrs ago and have been seperated for over a year. We have no children together and no property. She said she would sign divorce papers. I hired an attorney for a noncontested and she got the papers mailed to her about a month ago. She now won't sign the papers and when I tried to contact her she called my attorney threatening harrassment charges. My attorney is now saying since she won't sign it is considered a contested divorce and wants more money to proceed. The court shows papers have been filed but don't have a record of her being served. I can't pay the extra money for a contested divorce and would like to take it over myself. The court clerk is saying I have to have my attorney withdraw and then I have to file new papers and have her served. Why would I have to refile when the court already has them filed and can I not do a default divorce?
