His lawyer told me that my brother might get sent to the hospital but if he does get sent to the hospital, he might spend more time in the hospital than he would in a medium-security prison. My brother's lawyer wants him to plead guilty because he is guilty of shoplifting. My brother is in jail now as he was arrested on the probation violation. I just want my brother to get some help so that he can try to stay out of further trouble with the law. My brother suffered sexual abuse by a same-sex classmate when he was in the third grade and this has really affected him. He has several fetishes and needs help. I think the hospital would be best for him but nobody else does.
My brother pled guilty and was sentenced to 36 months in the Ojibway Prison near Jackson. He just did not want to risk a longer stay in the hospital. I hope he'll get the help he needs at Ojibway and will be able to keep clear of the law for the rest of his life. His lawyer says that he'll get out in a year or so. I work overseas and was not in court but I was told my brother handled it well and did not get upset. He has problems with mania but I was told that he was under control in the court. He didn't tell the judge that he has bipolar disorder and just went about his business. He was asked if he was high on drugs, drunk or silly when he took the DVD and he answered that he made a bad decision and was resigned to the punishment.
