    Let the lawyer do the talking not you,follow his advice.You will help your husband out more that way.Since a lot of dv victims recant there stories,the da mostly likely won't listen to you that much.

    We haven't hired a lawyer yet. We just enquired through free counseling. Do you think the lawyer can call the DA's office to let him know we are seeking counseling and inquire about dropping the charges before the arraignment?

    Not really. Saying you are getting counseling implies that you NEED counseling, which only strengthens the DA's belief that SOMETHING happened to TRIGGER the sudden rush to counseling. It's kind of like saying "we'll never do it again" - which implies it has been done.

    I know most would agree not to call the DA but I want to try to drop the charges before going to a judge.
    What should I tell the DA when I call?
    I was hoping the DA's office would call me to ask me but I don't know if to wait a little longer since it just happened on Saturday.
