Default What First - Refinance or Change Name on Deed

My question involves divorce in the State of: North Carolina

    Hello,

I have a signed and notarized Separation Agreement which gives me the house and I am in the process of refinancing the house. Which should I do first - change the deed to my name alone or refinance the mortgage? Can I do both at the same time and if so, what is needed? I am attempting to do this without hiring an attorney.

    Thank you!

Generally speaking, you would take care of getting your ex- off the title at the closing on the refi.
