Default Auto insurance coverage after marriage

I just recently was married and now am trying to work out all the insurance details. I was on my dad's Allstate insurance and he has already paid for my car's insurance up till April. He is also a co-owner on the title. I don't know if i have to get new insurance on it now or what. It seems to me, that I'm just driving his insured car for a while and won't need new insurance. I think it is the same situation with my wife. I don't want to ask the auto insurance company cause guarenteed they'll try to just grab our money. So, do we need to get new insurance immediatly or just when our old policy expires? Thanks for the help

    Default Auto Insurance After Marriage

If you are setting up an independent household, you should consider getting your own policy. If your wife will be driving the car, you should make sure she's named on the policy. If you choose not to get a new policy until the old one expires, review the policy terms to make sure that your insurance company won't try to deny your claim in the event of an accident due to your new household arrangements.
