My question involves criminal law for the state of: New Hampshire
So I was caught shoplifting from Macy's the other day. I had already taken something and left and put it into a car...I went back in because a friend told me to even though i hesitated. I decided to try to get something else and as I left a man came and stopped me and put me into handcuffs. He said he saw me on camera and made me show him where my car was with a the jeans or the cops will get involved...so i showed him, and in the car was stuff from another store and he took those too. So he took me into this small room and asked me a bunch of questions and ID, social security number, and previous theft stuff and i answered truthfully. After he said that i could pay 800 dollars for Macy's and the other store...but he gave me the option of paying civil recovery to macys or going to jail for the night and seeing a judge and stuff...so i paid Macy's $400 dollars for civil recovery...and signed and initialed two or 3 pages of papers...he said i couldn't go back into any Macy's anywhere for a year and took my picture and said everything is only within Macy's, no record or anything. I felt so bad and embarrassed so i called them back to apologize once more and the lady who was with the guy said i might have to pay 400 to the other store, but after i paid the guy 400 he didn't mention the other store again. So my questions are...am i going to have to pay $400 to the other store? were they allowed to make me go to my car? were they allowed to take the other stuff? are they going to send anything home since i already paid and do not currently live in my house since im at school? so basically what happens now? is anything going to happen in the future for jobs and stuff? if i ever have to go to see a judge will he or she see this even though the guy said it will stay within macy's and ill have no record because i paid the civil recovery? so what happens now?
thanks,
im an idiot....
