My question involves a credit report problem in the State of: Delaware
I had a student checking account for 3 years with a bank in delaware. I moved to chicago and neglected to close it.
05/20 : the account was overdrawn for 5$ and 10$, bank charged 35+35 fine.
06/16 : statement says that I have negative balance of 85$.
06/20 : my account was closed.
06/24 : a letter was sent saying that my case is refererred to collection.
it also says that they are giving 10 days notice to pay.
07/03 : I received the statement and the letter as I moved (delayed).
07/04 : I spoke to the bank representative who assured me that my credit
would not be affected. (I spoke on the 10th day). I have sent a
check of 85$ on the same day.
07/15 : The check was deposited (i have proof from my current bank.)
Can anyone tell me does the date on the check matters or the date they took the money matters??
My credit report shows that KD for the month July and OK for the month August.
I am new in this country and not aware of the law. According to the law, Can I dispute and get the KD removed from the report. Is that possible for my case. I also thought that KD is for 6 months of non payment. Please let me know what can I do. I got a job and my car loan is getting rejected , please help me.
Thanks a lot.
