    Default Background Check for College

My question involves criminal records for the state of: Michigan.

In Nov 2006 I pled guilty to False Pretenses Under $200. It's a long story, but I know I was guilty of what happened, I learned my lesson and the lawyers and judge all agreed that the charges were a waste of time. Anyway... 2+ years later, I am applying to a Medical Coding Certificate program at a community college. It requires a background check and the form has a huge list of all all sorts of convictions you must not have. It does not say False Pretenses anywhere, but it does say Larceny. I plan on talking to the proper person at the school itself, of course, but I am really stressing that I'm going to have to wait 3 years until I can clear this off my record. Can anyone tell me how concerned I should be? Thanks.

Typically, false pretenses is going to be treated as a type of larceny and/or fraud conviction. You should clarify with your program how it will be treated.
