My question involves traffic court in the State of: WA

My question:
Should i send the request for discovery via certified mail so it gets there just before the 14 day deadline before my court date, in hopes that the request wont be fulfilled within the 7 day deadline? Or should i send it now, so i have extra time to review the material and prepare my defense.

This link has been helpful but concerns me.

If my discovery process produces a sworn statement, where the officer just has to fill in the blanks, it sounds like it's impossible to win. Does WSP always do this for their tickets?

I tried calling the court clerk, to read back the officers sworn statement, 2 times actually, and she refuses to read anything back to me, saying i need to get that info through discovery.

Details:
I got a ticket near Snoqualmie Pass. I was on my way to the parking lot to go skiing, and got a ticket for 45 in a 35. I honestly don't think i was going that fast. I was just putting along to the parking lot. The officer (possibly WSP) had radar shooting out the back of his car, and pulled over quite a few people, (he got another guy while he was writing up my ticket, an another as i was leaving.)

Anyway i am about to send in a request for discovery using blewis's msword doc/template. (thanks).

I considered hiring a lawyer to fight my ticket for me, but most seattle based lawyers want to charge some $500, because of the travel involved to kittitas county court in cle elum.

I have a clean driving record, so i could ask for a deferal, but i would rather save that for another offense. Being my first ticket, i'm hoping this wont effect my insurance premiums much if i lose in court.
