My question involves child support in the State of: California.
I'm not a deadbeat. I love my daughter and wish the best for her.
I had a verbal agreement with my ex wife and up until now I paid child support according to that arrangement. 8 years ago she agreed to receive child support about 500$ less per month compare to what DCSS calculator suggested. In exchange I gave her all rights to our/used to be mine 70% paid off apartment.
I paid her with checks and do not have records other then bank statements and some check images with her name.
Recently my ex-wife opened a child support case against me with Department of Child Support Services (DCSS). I received a package from DCSS with a confusing cover letter and forms for income and expence declaration. Here are my questions
Can the court make me pay back this monthly difference of $500 for the last 8 years?
I have a steady job and income.
Does amount of assets I have is used by the court for child support amount calculation?
thanks.
