My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Country of Bermuda
My lease is set to expire April 30, 2009 and is a yearly lease. I gave my landlord notice on March 6th that I'm not renewing my lease. Landlord is stating that I need to give 3 months notice. I have my lease and this is what's stated:
"For a period of one year commencing on May 1, 2008(commencement date) and April 30, 2009(expiration date) with an option hereby created for a further period of one year on the same terms and conditions hereof save and except for this option to renew provided such option is exercised by the tenant by notice to the landlord not less than ninety days prior to the expiration date"
There is nothing else in the lease that states anything about giving notice execpt to enter the apartment by the landlord. The way I interpert the above statement is that if we want to renew the lease we have to give 90 days notice otherwise the lease just expires.
