Default Impact of Quitting Part Time Job on UE

My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: IL
I have been UE in IL and collecting benefits since Jan this year. My fiancee has recently accepted a promotion and transfer to a job in Tennessee that will require our relocation. This relocation will cause me to quit a PT job (10-15 hours/week) - Will this quitting result in my denial of continued benefits?
    Thanks in advance

It very well may. Although I find this difficult to fathom, quitting to follow a trailing spouse is grounds to collect benefits in only a very few states. I do not remember that Tennessee is one of them.

However, only the TN UI office can tell you for certain.

Would it be TN? Or IL? I think IL since the benefits were earned in and will be paid from IL - Will check with both I guess

I'm sorry, I misread your post. But as far as I know, the answer is the same for both.

By all means inquire but I wouldn't hold out too much hope. I think it's ridiculous, myself; if any future President sees fit to appoint me Labor Secretary that's a change I'll make. But until then, we're kind of stuck with it.

Thanks for the replies thus far.

What if rather than quitting I request Leave of Absence? I would still remain on file as an employee, just not earning wages at present.

This way when I report benefits claim, I did not work or earn wages nor did I quit a job.

Should it matter anyway? Even though I am working, my earning are below the threshold that ever impacts my benefit amount. It's not like I would be paid any more than I am currently receiving.

It's going to amount to the same thing. An indefinite leave of absence where you are earning nothing and a quit are essentially the same thing.

Mind, only the state UI office can give you a definite answer. I can only respond to possibilities/probabilities.
