I have some questions about the rights an applicant has when applying for a job. Are there laws against discrimination based on an applicants future academic goals? If the applicant meets the requirements for the position can the employer refuse to hire him/her because the employer believes that it would take too long to train the person? I'm asking this because I applied for a new position at my current place of employment where I meet the job requirements, but they know I would like to go to medical school in a few years. They told me I will not get the job because of this and that it would take too long to train me. The operations manager even asked why I would want this position because I would make more money as a doctor anyway. I haven't even had an interview yet.
