    Default Accused of shoplifitng

Help! I am an 18 year old college student and went to the mall with my friend. I was at JCPenney and someone followed me out of the store and accused me of shoplifting. I was shocked, as I did not steal anything and couldn't figure out what the heck was going on. I was in my car when the people approached me and told me to get out of my car. I asked them who they were and what was going on and they said it didnt matter, but to come back into the store with them. I had NO CLUE who they were and got scared so I drove away. Two weeks later the police called my house and said that the JCPenney people tried to get me for shoplifting but I left and hit another car when I left. The officer said that JCPenney wouldnt press charges against me but I am facing a HIT AND RUN!!! I don't know what to do because this did not happen. DO you think that the JCPEnney are just mad because they accused me of stealing and I left, so they want to try to get me for something else?

This should be a fairly simple one, one thing you will want to ask when you go to court is proof that you stole.. video tapes dont lie.. and secondly the hit and run. you will have to ask for the vehicle reported in the accident and check if it is valid and talk to the owner of the other vehicle.
Since netiher can be proved. case closed

Sounds like the LP didn't see anything and is making up a story to cover up a 'bad stop'. Did you have damage to your car? If not that should clear up a lot of things, the LP could be on the hook for filing a faulse police report too.
