    My question involves judgment recovery in the State of:Pennsylvania

    I had been paying an OIC on unpaid business taxes, and at the end of the statute of limitations still owed some. I received notice that I was no longer responsible for any more payments.

    My question is can I expect the Lien to be removed from my credit report? If so, how do I accomplish this?

    Thanks!
    Okay, let's get you some ACCURATE answers.....
    1) A credit reporting agency (CRA) is only required to provide ACCURATE information in your file. If a judgment existed, it can be shown. The simple fact that a judgment may or may not be valid any longer has no effect on the fact it is shown (though it may now show that it has been paid).
    2) 'Oh my' is not correct on the amount of time a judgment can show on your credit history.

    Here is what the FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) says about the duration that a judgment can remain:
    § 605. Requirements relating to information contained in consumer reports [15 U.S.C. §1681c]
    (a) Information excluded from consumer reports. Except as authorized under subsection (b) of this section, no consumer reporting agency may make any consumer report containing any of the following items of information:
    (2) Civil suits, civil judgments, and records of arrest that from date of entry, antedate the report by more than seven years or until the governing statute of limitations has expired, whichever is the longer period.

    What this means is... a judgment in 'personal property' in PA is valid for TWENTY years. The CRA can report that judgment for that full period.

    Actually you are wrong as far as the lenght a judgment can stay on your credit report. I just checked all 3 bureas and they all say the same thing. 7 years from recording date.

    Here is a link to Transunion. SEVEN YEARS ;

    as much as i HATE to, i have to agree with Ohmy.. i have my transunion credit report in front of me, i have a judgement that was entered in 04/2005 and will be dropped on 03/2012 7 years.... right above this judgement is a little info i quote" the following items obtained from public records appear on your report. you may be required to explain public record items to potential creditors. any bankruptcy information wil remain on your report for 10 years from date of filing. unpaid tax liens may generlly be reported for an indefinite period of time depending on your state of residence. paid tax liens may be reported for 7 years from date of payment. all other public record information, including discharged chapter 13 bankruptcy, remains for up to 7 years" but i know the judgement is VALID for 10 years....
