Default What to Do if Your Account is Levied Over Somebody Else's Judgment

My question involves judgment recovery in the State of: CALIFORNIA

Bank held a levy on my money for my sisters judgement.

I recently added her to my account. I did not get a notice that she even had a judgement neither did she.
I woke this morning to find that my bank was holding $1700 dollars from my account. When I called to find out why, they gave me the levy office number part of the bank. When I called they said that they couldnt give me any answers because they need to talk to my sister. It is her Judgment that they
are taking my money which my company pays me through direct deposit. they are refusing to give me back my money. My sister do not deposit anything or withdrawl anything in the account, they can clearly see who the money belongs to.

It really doesn't matter who deposited the funds... as long as her name is on the account.
Of course, you can file a motion with the court to try to exempt 'your' funds... but based on your post, I doubt it would be successful. Better get your sister to pay you back the money that you paid for her.

not true at all, although it will be a big pain, you can contest, and prove that the money is yours and you should get it back. you will have to prove to the judge that it is yours. why are you trying to scare the op, jetx

In the meantime, see if you your employer will stop direct deposit until this matter is cleared up.

When all is said and done, I would take your sister off of your account, just to protect yourself in the future.
