Default Possible Child Abuse/ Obstructing Police Officer

My question involves child abuse or neglect in the State of: California

i have a friend that got a call from a friend that stated she was being beaten and was hiding in her closet. so he goes over and gets her and now the police are looking for her and he hasnt taken her to the police yet, can he get in trouble?

Yes, he can. Child abuse situations are not "do it yourself" projects, he should have called authorities instead of going to get her himself.

He can be charged with kidnapping at the very least - and it doesn't matter if the child WANTED to go with him or not. He needs to get the child to the authorities ASAP.
