My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: New Jersey

I am so confused on whether I should file for bankruptcy or not I have about $17,000 in credit card dept and $3,000 in medical bills. I am currently receiving Unemployment benefits and I am just managing to keep my head above water by paying the utilities, my car payment and insurance. I will begin full time work in May (I live in a resort area) but I dont think I will be able to commit to any payment agreements. I need to save for next winter so I dont fall into the same difficult time when next winter rolls around. As far as keeping a roof over my head, my ex-husband stopped paying on the mortgage in the home that I live in with our 2 children. He filed bankruptcy a few months back and I have just received notice of Sheriff's Sale. The mortgage is in his name only, but I am on the deed. I do not want to lose my home but given my income at this time, I dont see how I can save my home. I suppose that is a whole other (big) issue. But will filing Bankruptcy get me started on getting back on the right track? If anyone has advise on how to save my home, I'll take that too......HELP, Im drowning
