My question involves criminal records for the state of: Michigan
In 2008 I was charged with possession of an analog and convicted with a misdemeanor and granted a "7411". I completed probation as directed and the charge was supposed to be expunged according to how the 7411 was explained to me.
I am a current student finishing up my pre-requisite classes before testing into a nursing program. If I get into the program, prior to starting the clinical portion of the degree, a background check is required.
I am concerned as the rules for the hospitals that do our clinical classes do not allow felony convictions or certain misdemeanors into the program at all. I spoke with our director of nursing and she states that if it was properly expunged, then the background check should show up as "negative" and I should have nothing to worry about. If it is "positive", I must present to the hospital board and state my case. If it is in regards to prior convictions of drugs (which it was in my case, from having an illegal substance without a prescription basically), then they will absolutely NOT consider my application and my 1 1/2 years of schooling for this will be for nothing.
How do I make sure this was properly taken care of so that I may fulfill these requirements and get into the nursing program? I'd hate to waste any more time/money on the nursing program if I can't even get into the most important part required for the degree.
Let me know if any more clarification is needed; I'm new at this. Thank you.
