My question involves child support in the State of: California
My ex-husband has lives in Montana, has over $35,000 in arrearages and I have not received any sort of payment since last August. I most recently found out that he and his current wife are on public assistance from the DA's office and there was "nothing they can do about collecting support at this time."
My question to you is this, is this really true? There's absolutely nothing I can do? I realize that you "can't bleed a turnip", but the fact of the matter is - why should I accept this and just "deal"? Why aren't the courts willing to do anything to help me with this? I'm not sure how the law works with non-custodial parents on public assistance, but it I can't make sense of how the government will give you money to support your family even though you have child support arrearages?
