Default Abusive, Druggie Roommate.Do I Have to Pay Utilities if I Move Out

My question involves a roommate in the State of: Indiana

I currently live in a house with a former friend and her boyfriend. All three of our names are on the lease. Last week a friend who had been staying (and paying rent) for a few months was attacked by the female roommate leaving her with a black eye, fat lip and a huge bruise on her arm. The female roommate has a reputation for starting fights and I have had to call the ambulance and police for her a couple times.

I no longer feel safe in my house and have found another place to stay until I graduate from college. I understand that it would be hard for me to break my lease but am I still responsible for the utilities? My name is not on any of them.

Also, I need to move my stuff out of the house but fear something might happen to me if I go. Is there anyway I could get police assistance while I move my stuff out?

Also, both of my roommates are huge pot heads and there is drug paraphernalia all over the downstairs of my house which is where they live. I do not do any drugs so if I was tested I would be clean but if I was able to get a police officer to see the paraphernalia could I get my roommates in trouble and possibly make this process smoother? My roommates also stole Vicodin from me (from when I got my wisdom teeth out) but I think that would be harder to prove.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

You realize of course that given the history you'd have a pretty good shot at getting a restraining order and staying and letting the bad apple leave, right?

Only if they take you to court and win a judgement against you.

Also, I need to move my stuff out of the house but fear something might happen to me if I go. Is there anyway I could get police assistance while I move my stuff out?
You can ask them to do a standby, but you'll typically get enough time to grab a few essentials, police can't bodyguard you for hours while you move furniture and things like that. Bring friends to make the process FAST.

Also, both of my roommates are huge pot heads and there is drug paraphernalia all over the downstairs of my house which is where they live.
Wonderful. Ever call the police about THAT?

I do not do any drugs so if I was tested I would be clean but if I was able to get a police officer to see the paraphernalia could I get my roommates in trouble and possibly make this process smoother?
Testing positive or not, you've still been living under that roof with that activity going on, and you're taking a risk being the one to give police the guided tour. Might work out, might not.

Yep, it would, particularly if you didn't report the theft until now.
