Default Is It Possible to Remove Mother from Birth Certificate

My question involves adoption law for the State of: Florida

I was raised by my grandparents right out of the hospital. I never was legally adopted,(just found that part out.) My grandfather "dad" is on my birth certificate as my father, I would like to remove my biological mother from and add my granny "Mom" to my certificate, who now is deceased? Where should I start if it's even possible?

When applying for financial aid for school, I was asked to show "Adoption Records" Or proof that my mother was deceased, for aid, Thinking I was adopted the whole time.. I figured my father would have them.. that was a no.. I was NEVER adopted, As big of a mess as this is I would like to start fixing it the way it should have been a long time ago, But dont know where 2 start or what to do without getting any1 in trouble? Removing my Father is not 1 of my options, He's made my life alot better than it would have been, If they wouldnt have taken me. Thanks

so your mother is on the birth certificate as "mom" and HER father is on the birth certificate as "dad"?

    Really?

You could have your grandmother adopt you, but your birth certificate will not be changed.

I don't think that is an option, as the OP indicated that her Grandmother is deceased.

OP, you should get a consult with an attorney to find out what steps to take. You can get a low cost consult by calling the Florida Bar Lawyer Refferal Service at 1-800-342-8011.

I have spoken with my bio mom and asked if she'd be willing to come to court with me and ask my "Dad" if he would be willing to help me fix this mess, both agree to help, It scares me to know that this could even happen.. anywho, If I did take the route of getting an attorney could my "father" still legally adopt me? I have shot records, school records, ext. to prove Ive lived in his household since birth? And my grandparents were married when my grandmother passed in 05.
