My question involves a roommate in the State of TX: My daughter and her boyfriend have a roommate that lost his job. His parents pay his portion of the rent, but he does not contribute toward utilities or food - or even housekeeping. There are still several months left on the lease which names the roommate as well. My daughter and her boyfriend have had enough and would like to get their own apt. They have worked out an agreement with the landlord on getting out of the lease and having the roommate go into a one bedroom BUT he refuses to agree to move. He said he cannot afford the one bedroom and he will not move out. He eats the food my daughter buys since he never has any money. It's gotten to where she and her boyfriend are hiding food in their bedroom and are getting a lock doorknob for their room. Any advise on how they can get out of this apt legally would be so helpful. Thanks.![]()
