My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Washington DC
My landlord is becoming increasingly hostile towards my roommate and I. Just this morning he told my roommate that it was the law that he could come into our apartment while we were not there. (To fix a doorknob - not an emergency) We had written him a note giving him two large chunks of time that we would both be home, so that he could make the repair. When my roommate asked him to please not enter our apartment until we were present, he told her it was the law and she could go to hell.
We are now concerned about our safety and the security of our posessions. Is this a cause to break a lease, and still get back ou rather large security deposit?
*more details on examples of his refusal to cooperate if needed.
