Default Can I Deny SS Completely for Short Marriage

My question involves divorce in the State of: CA

I am the petitioner,My divorce judgememnt was set aside as the answer was also filed by respondent on the same day of entering default. Also later she filed OSC for spousal support for which i need to file response. our marriage lasted only for 1 year.
    1. Do i need to deny spousal support
2.How can i move forward with my divorce? can i use Bifurcation??
    3. Do i really need to spend money for attorney i am confused because though my spouse gets support from the court it may be only for 6 months as our marriage is only for 1 yr and ofcourse the amount will be 40% of the income. I am trying to compare my attorney expenses with spousal support.

    You really ought to, yes.

Whether or not spousal support will be awarded is completely up to the court.
